How long does it take to drive from Abu Dhabi to Al Ain?
About 90 to 110 minutes door to door in normal traffic. The road is fast and mostly empty, so the range comes from your two addresses rather than from congestion: a Corniche hotel to central Al Ain sits at the shorter end, and a pickup in Khalifa City or a drop at Jebel Hafeet at the longer one.
How far is Al Ain from Abu Dhabi?
About 160 km, inland and almost due east, on the E22 through the desert. It is the longest transfer we publish — further than Abu Dhabi to Dubai — which is why the fare is quoted per journey rather than per hour.
How much is a private car from Abu Dhabi to Al Ain?
From AED 550 one way for the vehicle, fixed before you travel. Fuel, tolls, parking and your free waiting time are inside that number, and it does not change with traffic or the hour. Abu Dhabi to Al Ain with a Virtus chauffeur
Al Ain is the inland city: the oasis, the camel market, Jahili Fort, Al Ain Zoo and the road up Jebel Hafeet, which is the best drive in the country and the reason many guests come at all. It is also a genuine journey — an hour and a half of open road each way — which makes it one of those trips where the difference between a private car and everything else is the whole day rather than the fare.

Two things worth deciding before you book. First, whether you want the car to wait: a one-way fare gets you there, but most guests going for the oasis and Jebel Hafeet want the vehicle held for the day, which is an hourly booking and usually cheaper than two separate transfers. Second, the time of day — the drive out is easy in the morning and the drive back at dusk is genuinely beautiful, and neither of those is true of the same road at four in the afternoon in summer.

Can you drive us up Jebel Hafeet?
Yes, and it is worth doing: the mountain road is 12 km of switchbacks with the whole oasis behind you at the top. It sits beyond the city, so tell us when you book — it is part of an hourly booking or an extension to the transfer, and either way the figure is agreed before you set off rather than added at the summit.
Can we stop along the way?
A comfort stop is normal and changes nothing. A real stop — the camel market, lunch, a house call on the way in — is worth mentioning when you book so we allow the time; on a run this length we would rather build it into the plan than have the day slip an hour behind.
Do you drive back from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi as well?
Yes. Book the return leg at the same time and it costs less than arranging it separately, and you keep the same chauffeur. Every Virtus journey starts in Abu Dhabi under our ITC licence, and a return leg for a guest we drove out is part of that same booking.
How far ahead should I book?
A day ahead is comfortable. Same-day is often possible, but this is a three-hour round trip for the vehicle, so a car that is free in the morning may not be free in the afternoon — and we will tell you which rather than confirming and rearranging.
